June News Letter

May seemed to fly by, so much to do it feels like and so little time to get it all done!  Every weekend in May was totally scheduled with things to do, Mother's Day, a friend's son's wedding, visiting our old family ranch on what was once Black Mountain Rd, having lunch at my cousin's new restaurant California Avocado Grill in Escondido, visiting with friends; muscle testing a client's mustang for allergies and food sensitivity, visiting my old neighborhood, paying a visit to Mary's Tack and Feed and just browsing and picking up a few essentials; attending several meditations one for the full moon eclipse, and for other reasons, and it just flew by for sure, not sure when I took a breath!  Then it was time for another news letter.... yikes!

Summer seems to be here really really early. It's 85 degrees with 50-60% humidity. June is just now starting and it already feels like August, eee gads!   Many kids are out of school already, they are looking forward to days spent at the beach, riding horses, in the pool rather then in the classroom.  Parents are kicking back a little more now too with summer schedules!

Hopefully salads are replacing soups for dinner, bar-b-ques and corn on the cob for 4th of July, and sweet summer fruit is the dessert of choice. Community events are increasing, Memorial Day is past, people are sitting outside later or on their front porches, and many are making plans for vacations.  What ever you are doing, have fun, and Happy Father's day to all the dad's out there too!

Flies, NoSeeUms and Itchy horses ----

Below is a testimonial I just received from a client who had tried so many things, and her poor horse was miserable!  What I am recommending to everyone who has horses who are already miserable this year is apply the No Fly Zone in the morning, and the Stop the Itch at night to the areas that are being affected, are rubbed or bitten raw, and also use the Stop the Itch Spray after you apply the No Fly Zone both morning and night - the results are so worth it --- my horses are going to have a better summer because of it - go to OUR STORE SPRAYS AND SALVES  and you will find what you need there, as well as an all natural fly spray concentrate you can make up yourself, and for your dogs we also are carrying the Stop the Itch shampoo, spray et al for you best buddies!  But we also are selling the Buggzo as well clikc here BUGGZO to be taken to that link as well. So here is the testimonial :

Dear Jessica,

Here is a testimonial for you.

Years ago my horse had melanomas surgically removed from his sheath and
so since then it has not been "normal" and a target for bugs and infections.
I called you for advice on how to get him through the summer and you recommended
the Buggzo and the Zepher No Fly Zone Healing Salve. After desperately applying
chemical fly sprays and watching flies return within hours, I decided to stick with
natural stuff, and generously applied the Healing Salve every single day. I can
hardly believe my eyes. Not only is it keeping him comfortable, and healing,
but there are little white hairs growing in to help protect him naturally!!!

THANK YOU!!!

One of the things I do for my horses in the summer months is give them fruits in season and also some of the veges in season, not a lot but a great taste treat and a great way to give them some additional nutrition!  In the May Newsletter we talked about fruit, so let's talk about veges.

What I like to do is go to the summer farmer's markets in my area and pick up fresh summer squashes (zuccini, crock neck, et al), I also like to chop up some of the Napa Cabbage, and see what else may look interesting (no tomatoes please as they are not in the horse friendly catagory).  I feed maybe a cup full of this combo to each horse, and one may pick through it or they may eat it all, depends on who it is, I usually add a couple fruits, and maybe a bit of water melon plus a little of the rind, come fresh berries or even some chopped fresh herbs.

So come up with some creative fruit and chopped up vege combinations,  your horses will love you!  All horses are individuals and none of mine like bananas, but two do love water melon and cantelope, and one likes the honey dew melons.

Klamath Lake Bare Island, Eagle Ridge area

There was a time when nutrient rich grasses were a staple throughout the earth and horses thrived because of it. Today, nothing could be farther from the truth. Depleted soil conditions are the norm, and commercially produced hays are rich in anything but nutrients. Nutrient deficiencies have become your horse’ s worst enemy. There is help, and it comes from a time when there were no grasses. It is the simplest of all forms of life. (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (blue-green algae)) Wild Grown Klamath Lake E3 Live™ Products For Horses. What can E3 Live™ Products For Horses do for your horses? Check out the following list of naturally-occurring vitamins, minerals and amino acids; and more that, all are in E3 Live™ Products For Horses. E3 Live™ Products For Horses are an aquatic plant, that organically grows wild in Klamath Lake, in the state of Oregon, and is harvested for its nutritional benefits. Our horses do not get these important nutritional benefits, nutrients balanced by nature, from the feeds we give them, or the forging they do on their own. E3 Live™ Products For Horses can provide what they are missing.

Earth Song Ranch is now selling E3Live ---- it has done amazing things to Cheyannes hooves and her coat glows and wanted to share that with all of you too!

The key to preventing moldy berries? Vinegar! When you get your berries home, pr...epare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want, (though the mixture is so diluted I find you can't taste the vinegar,) and pop in the fridge.

The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila!

Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft.

The 7 Myths of Equine Nutrition - Continued Myth # 2

Skinny horses need more grain-False -

If a horse is underweight and can't maintain his weight, then there is probably under-lying issues going on such as; teeth, ulcers, worms, etc.

Mineral supplementation can provide additional nutrients instead of loading them up with unecessary grain amounts.

Earth Song Ranch Equine Zyme would also help, when a horses 100 foot long intestinal tract is out of balance they can loose weight quickly.  Earth Song Ranch aslo carries vitamin and  minerals balanced for pasture, grass and alfalfa based diets!

Nourish Your Body - Pamper Your Skin

If you haven't been to the web site of late there are more changes coming, one I am particularly excited about!!!  One is finally for us people and one I love sharing with you because I use the products daily!

We are adding a line of cold pressed avocado oils for cooking, salads and dipping, and also a line of soaps, lotions, serums and lip balms.  They are wonderful!

The reason I am so excited about these products is I use them, and I have very dry sun damaged skin, and they soak in and keep my skin moist for hours, the serum is awsome. The company adds essential oils to the avocado lotions, soaps and serums or you can get them uscented

The Avocado oils are cold pressed and can be drizzled over salads, used for cooking and is a healthy substitute for butter!

What is even more exciting is I can share a piece of the California sunshine with all of you because the oil is makde from all  locally grown avocados.  And my cousin is one of those growers.  All of the products are made in my area, hand made and cut soaps by a neighbor, oils cold pressed a mile from my house.   The dipping and cooking oil is posted, soon to be followed by the rest!
