Earth Song Ranch October 2015 Newsletter‏

I and sending out this email a little early as family is gathering this week coming in from Hawaii, Wisconsin and California to celebrate my son's life, all that he is, will always be and who he was to so many.

We are gathering on Saturday the 3rd of October at Crown Point in San Diego, between 100 and 150 people will gather, to honor Brent sharing his stories of his life with friends and family, OMBAC Members and to spend a day at the beach.

On the 4th the family will be scattering his ashes at Ponto Beach, Carlsbad, CA where both of my parents ashes were also scattered.  So wanted to make sure that I got this out to all of you with the specials and some thoughts as well as talk a bit about Pigeon Fever and EPM.

All of you who have been so kind as well as understanding, many have sent notes, emails, fb pm's, energy, prayers and your love has helped me to get through this past several weeks, I have felt so loved, so supported and so cared about I cannot tell you how much this has meant to me in my world, as a mother, friend, and a woman who lost her only son.  Namaste and Thank You this has meant so much to me, and has given me the strength to go on, to be strong and to be able to support my family.

Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures & the whole of nature & its beauty. ~ Uncle Albert (Einstein) Black heart (cards) Black heart (cards) Black heart (cards)

The days are now shorter, noticeably so, and each of the horses and the minis now has a "bloom" beginning of winter coat for the cooler days to come.

For now we are still under this unbearable heat and humidity, and it seems summer will never end although the calendar says it is now fall!

Fall is a time to harvest our gardens, as well as to begin to harvest all the changes we have made in our lives, in our own worlds so that when Winter appears we can go deeper in to the things within ourselves on a spiritual level and become quieter in a world that has become so chaiotic is so noisey at times.  I love the fall months, the color of the leaves, Halloween, and the approach of Thanks-giving, as we all have so much to be thankful for in our lives.    We will till our soil for the earth to become rich as the compost makes the soil ready for planting in the spring.

Two of my Favorite Herbs

NettlesUrtica dioca – One of my favorite herbs, nettles are one of nature’s richest sources of iron if that is something lacking in your area or in your hay.  Nettles contain histamine, serotonin, potassium, silica, vitamins A and C, and it strengthens and supports the whole body.  Nettles also support the immune, respiratory, urinary and reproductive systems, and can help the body fight allergic responses.  Additionally, nettles will strengthen hoof and coat health. You can add about a half a cup of nettles to the feed ration daily in the cut and sifted or a couple tablespoons per day in the powder form.  If you choose to feed fresh herbs, allow them to wither in the sun for at least four hours to remove the sting, or pour boiling water over them first and allow them to cool.

FenugreekTrigonella foenum-graecum – is one of my favorite herbs which is actually a small seed, and you will find it in many of the Earth Song Ranch herbal blends, I love adding fenugreek to my  blends because horses usually love the flavor along with the aroma.  These hard little seeds function to strengthen the respiratory system, the mucus membranes, and the sinus in cases of upper respiratory infection, sinus issues, or congestion.  Fenugreek also has strong properties of regulating and stimulating the lymphatic system helping to move lymph through the body, it can be helpful when treating anhydrosis (the ‘puffs’), or any condition where there is stuck lymph.   Add about 2 tablespoons of the powdered seeds a day to your horse’s diet mixed in bucket feed.

EPM and Pigeon Fever --

This past week I have had numberous calls about horses with Pigeon Fever, and EPM --- I am all about prevention, and carry nosodes to prevent both of these dis-eases, but  I also carry herbal blends, and other things to help treat both of these in the event that your horse becomes ill with either.  We are carrying colostrum from Smooth Run, it will be on the site on Tuesday, I am also going to carry Beta Blend again if I can get it at an affordable price, a blend of Beta Glucan from mushroom extracts and Colostrum to help the horses who have become ill to boost their immune systems and for those who may have been exposed as well.

Pigeon Fever is most prevelant when we have years of drought like we have had, most of the calls are coming from the most western states California, Oregon and Southern Washington for the most part.  There are a lot of active cases in the moment, and most vets do not know how to treat this.  Once a horse becomes ill high doses of Vitamin C are needed, betadine and baby shampoo baths, lots of hand walking, betonite clay poultices on the affected areas with essential oils, and Equine Zyme Plus to help boost the immune system.

EPM is for some reason the  most prevelant in the fall,  scientist cannot as yet figure out most this happens in the fall months months, so the calls I have gotten do not surprise me.   We carry a nosode to prevent this horrid dis-ease however we also have a homeopathic treatment as well if you horses becomes ill.   I also carry an herbal blend that is anti-protozal, anti parasitic and immune boosting called EPM TX which has helped many horses over the years to prevent and to treat EPM.

NOSODES are homeopthic immunizations if you will that have been used for centuries to prevent disesaes, the drug companies used the theory of Nosodes to come up with their vaccines but yse chemical carrier that can affect a horses immune system, click on this link to go straight to the Homeopathic and Nosode page of the Earth Song Ranch Site NOSODES
